Ariol—an integral part of our breast cancer protocol.

We use Applied Imaging’s Ariol (seen below) system for quantitative analysis of our breast tumor prognostic markers, such as, ER (estrogen receptor), PR (progesterone receptor), Ki-67 (proliferation marker), and p53. Rather than an estimated guess by a pathologist, the Ariol scans the slide into a digital image and provides the oncologist with a percentage of positive staining cells, based on color, intensity, and morphometric analysis. The Ariol helps to standardize our approach, and eliminates subjectivity, and aids the oncologist in interpretations.
