Breast Markers
Untitled Document
The pathologist plays a very important role in the management of women with
breast cancer. We provide important prognostic information to the treating physicians,
which help determine the most effective therapies for their patients. Pacific
Rim Pathology provides standardized synoptic reports that are easily interpretable
by both physicians and patients alike. We utilize state of the art equipment
that provides quantitative and reproducible results for optimal patient management.

Pacific Rim Pathology performs FISH testing
to detect amplification of the HER-2/neu gene a marker indicating potential
responsiveness to Herceptin therapy.
HER-2/neu FISH vs. HER2 IHC
We analyze all breast tumors for the following prognostic and predictive
markers using automated image analysis tools: Ki-67 a proliferative index, P53
a tumor suppressive gene, and the estrogen and progesterone hormone receptors.
We provide second opinions for patients seeking reassurance that indeed they
have all the information necessary to make an informed treatment decision.
